PSC Contest 2 2013/14

Fun waves, good weather and great vibes!

With the crummy weather coming to an end (for the fortnight anyway), and a forecast 2-3ft swell we had no option but to call comp 2 on for November 16th. From the feedback given, it sounds like everyone had an epic day, with some fun double-ups at times and a great turn-out.

In fact we had 81 individual surfers (unique surfers - not including double-division surfers) - and with guys like Craig Watson, Mark Renison, Dave Thomas and Chris Wilko coming back to the club there isn't a better crew you could hang with on a Saturday!

Surfing highlights?
- Darcy Malesa's 10 point tube ride and reo combo in the B-grade final was pretty rad, especially for a guy who has surfed once in 2 months following an ankle injury.
- Daisy Everett and Naomi Taylor doing a solid job in the rip-bowl conditions and representing the junior girls division well. -
- Chicko, Straussy and LMC winning their respective old-boy divisions.
- Reidy vs Shan on their final waves in the Senior Mens final, Shan's 8 for 3 reo's was exciting to watch. Reidy's victory speech was classic also - you've made it mate.
- Billy White winning back to back cadet finals with some smooth backhand hooks (and new member Harry Phillips coming 2nd in his first comp).
- Billy Wells doing his "Mini-Occ" impersonation in the Junior final for a win setting up an epic aggregate battle between himself, Joel Wookey and Jamo Kingston.
- Mikey Barber all day (well, until the final when the wheels dislodged... and possibly fell off). Tom Lyon, Hydey, Adam Morris and Cal Nico also had some highlight heats in the open division...

...But ultimately Caiden showed that he is our strongest comp surfer, doing an awesome job in hopeless waves during the open final to find two excellent scores and take the win.

Other highlights of the day?

- Hanging out with the 30-odd crew who came back for a beer/BBQ/drink at the clubhouse afterwards. - Watching Dylan Hallam rip on the ramp (actually Dyl was ripping in the B-grade final too)...
- Reidy's aforementioned victory speech - take that Harry.
- Hayden's admittance of guilt on the events of his 21st birthday night.
- Josh Hallam barking orders at Redeye - work might not be have been too much fun Monday mate!

If you want to be involved in the next one lock in Nov 30th (with Dec 7th as a back-up) for PSC Comp 3. Good times guaranteed, even if you lose.

Thanks to everyone for their help on the day. Lachy and BMC
